Bella Eiko Orta Media Staff
Bella Eiko Orta Media (BEOM) News Service started November 2, 2011 by accident as a livestream by Bella Eiko at Occupy Oakland protests. Seeing negatively slanted coverage on many mainstream media outlets regarding human rights, social, economic and environmental justice issues inspired more for the future of Bella Eiko Media aside from on the ground, live coverage of protests in 1 city. Bella Eiko Media spread from Oakland, CA to Anaheim in Southern California with Courtney Harrop and Political Fail Blog. As the years went on and the world experienced the murders of Alan Blueford (Oakland, CA), Eric Garner (Staten Island, NY) and Mike Brown (Canfield, MO); Bella Eiko Media transformed from a single journalist to a collaboration effort including the contributions of Indy Journalists, worldwide, and the issues that matter most to them. The goal of BEOM is to create a centralized location for quality news to combat the spread of misinformation and arm communities across the globe with the knowledge to stand up against oppressive powers safely. In addition to that, BEOM is dedicated to being an organization that utilizes it's combined power to legitimize freelance journalists of controversial topics who are often times provided little protection while shedding light on the current political situations, writing about proposed solutions, offering critiques to various systems and disseminating that information in the most accessible forms to the general public for immediate consumption.
